Bloom, who passed away on October 9, 2013, will be held at the American Legion Hall Post 165 in Indianola on October 26, 2013 at 10 a.m. Robert Dean Bloom was born May 14, 1933 in Milo, Iowa to Earl and Vera Bloom. He was a graduate of Milo High School and lived in Indianola for most of his adult life. Robert worked at Firestone where he was a tire builder until retiring in 1994.

He enjoyed classic cars, coins, guns and operating heavy equipment. He was a Korean War Veteran serving in the U.S. Navy Sea Bees. Survivors include his children, Thad (Peggy) Bloom of Indianola, Kirk (Missy) Bloom of Indianola, Pami (Curt) Bregar of Brandon, Mississippi, Teri (Mark) Collins of Swan, and brother Richard Bloom of California. He is survived by 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon, in 2002; and his parents, Earl and Vera Bloom. In lieu of cards and memorial donations may be made to the American Legion Post 165 of Indianola. ROBERT BLOOM Indianola Mildred, 92, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 15th, 2013, at the Community Care Center in Stuart, Iowa, surrounded by her family.

Her body was cremated and a memorial service will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at the United Methodist Church in Menlo. Mildred was born February 28, 1921, to Charles and Charlotte (Peachey) Herrick in Beaver, Iowa. She married Allen W. Guttenfelder February 25, 1940 to which three sons were born.

After passing on September 30, 1983, she married Ira Potter on October 24, 1987. For over 20 years she was an Avon Representative and she worked for Preferred Risk Insurance (Guide One) for 10 years before retiring. Mildred is survived by her children Wayne (Carol) Guttenfelder, Gary (Laura) Guttenfelder, Dennis Guttenfelder, Tiara (Lee) Brant, George (Christy) Potter, Neita (Carl) Martin, Kevin (Sheryl) Potter, Kate (Gerald) Brown, 15 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, brothers Victor, Gilbert, Conrad and sisters Sylvia, Viola and Dorothy. Memorials may be made to the family to be distributed at a later date.

The family would like to thank the Community Care Center in Stuart and St. Hospice for the wonderful loving care she received. MILDRED GUTTENFELDER POTTER Stuart Jan. 22, 1973-Oct. 20, 2013 Julie passed away peacefully in Lakewood, CO after a courageous battle with small cell lung cancer with her daughter, husband mother at her side.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Cory, daughter Maiya Gilley, parents Glenda (Dan) Arnold, Gerald L. (Denise) Lamb and numerous family friends. (LAMB) Lakewood, Colorado Edward, 77, died October 21, 2013. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Thursday, at Brooks Funeral Care, 7975 University Blvd. in Clive. His funeral will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, at the funeral home with burial at Waukee Cemetery. Edward DeWayne Still, the son of Edward and Laura (Bower) Still, was born June 6, 1936 in Cainsville, MO.

He was a graduate of Johnston High School in 1955, and served in the U.S. Navy. Edward worked for Fawn Engineering, Firestone, and Gates Rubber. The highlight of his life was riding his motorcycle across the Continental Divide in Colorado. Edward was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Shelly Still; and his daughter-in-law, Sandra (Long) Still.

Edward is remembered by his wife of 27 years, Pam; his son, Kenneth Still; step children: Pat Woodward, Kim (Dave) Hutchison, Kristine (Mark) Guthrie, and Wade Woodward; his sisters, Nina McGraw and Joyce (Jerry) Robertson; two grandchildren; ten step grandchildren; one great- grandchild; and eight step great-grandchildren. EDWARD D. STILL Waukee Thomas Arthur Eckerman, 67, passed away unexpectedly on the afternoon of Sept. 30, 2013, at his home in Abilene, Texas. Tom was born Dec.

20, 1945 in Burlington, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Eckerman, and his sister, Sue Ellen. He is survived by his mother, Ellen (Bette) Eckerman, residing at Bishop Drum Retirement Center, 5837 Winwood Drive, in Johnston, Iowa. Tom graduated from St. High School in Marshalltown, Iowa and enlisted in the US Air Force, which would prove to be the love of his life.

After a stellar 20 year career, he retired from the Air Force and continued his love of airplanes and flying with a civilian avionics career at Dyess Air Force Base in Abilene, Texas, from which he retired after another 20 years. The family greatly appreciates all the coworkers and friends Tom had in Abilene. They were a great source of community and friendship. We know from the many expressions of sympathy how much he will be missed. A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, October 26, at 9:30 a.m.

THOMAS ARTHUR ECKERMAN Abilene TX, formerly of Marshalltown Douglas J. Althaus, 60, passed away October 18, 2013. A service will be held 10 am, Saturday, October 26, 2013 at Funeral Home Chapel.

He is survived by his children, Benjamin, John, David (Aimee), Michael, and Christopher; along with many extended family members and friends. DOUGLAS JOHN ALTHAUS Des Moines Deloria Fahl, 76, was born July 22, 1937 in Alton, Iowa, the daughter of Gladys and Nelson Brower. She passed away on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston, Iowa. Dody loved camping and traveling with her late husband, Dick.

She cherished the time she spent with her family and loved spoiling her grandchildren. Dody enjoyed cooking, baking, crocheting and sewing clothing for her grandchildren, as well as refinishing antique furniture. Dody is survived by her daughters, Robin (John) Burkey and Ricki (Glen Marsh; six grandchildren, Matthew Burkey, Jeffrey Burkey, Allison Burkey, Kelsi (Greg) Marsh-Spurgeon, Kirby Marsh and Korey Marsh; and her sister, Nancy Johnson. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines.

DELORIA FAHL Ankeny Joyce A. Bixby, 69, passed away peacefully on Tuesday. Joyce was born in Clarence, Iowa on February 8, 1944, the daughter of Edwin and Margret Griem.

Joyce married Lucius Bixby on January 1, 1966 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She worked as an accountant and was a member and President of American Business Women Associates. She was a long time active member of Urbandale United Church of Christ and a graduate of lay academy through the church. Joyce is survived by her husband, Butch; brother, Keith (Neva) Griem; two sons, Scott (Jen) Bixby and Wesley (Gina) Bixby; grandchildren: Justin, Carter, Ethan, Emily and Olivia. JOYCE ARLENE BIXBY Des Moines Adrena (De Jong) Mitchell, 94, formerly of Pella, IA, passed away Monday at Knoxville Hospitals Clinics. Adrena is survived by four children: Thomas and Patricia Mitchell, Thelma Mitchell of Otley, IA, Barbara and Evert Kroes of Pella, Michael and Patricia Mitchell of Hanford, CA. Visitation will be Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. ADRENA MITCHELL Knoxville Dustan James Towne, 29, passed away at Methodist Hospital on October 20, 2013. Services will be held at on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines with visitation on Thursday, October 24 from 6 to 8 p.m. and the funeral service on Friday, October 25 at 10:00 a.m.

Dustan was born on February 15, 1984 in Des Moines, IA to Dona Ludwig and Joseph Towne. He grew up in Des Moines and worked for Martin Grading and Landscaping; a perfect fit as he loved being outdoors and running his Roll Dustan had many talents. He enjoyed and in particular ocean off Port Hueneme, CA. He was a hobby chef and enjoyed experimenting with various dishes and then of course eating them. He was a bass guitar player and loved jamming with his friends.

But most of all, Dustan loved being with his family and friends and was known for his kind heart and his smile. His smile could warm hearts and open doors I imagine what getting away with now. He is loved and will be greatly missed by his parents; Dona (Don) Ludwig, Joe (Pam) Towne; his grandparents, Don and Maxine Ludwig, Harold and Leona Towne; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Dustan is also survived by his siblings, Aleasha (Mike) Dodds and Vincent Anderson; nieces, Ella and Audrey Dodds; and by his second family, Dee Anderson and other loving relatives and special friends. Dustan was preceded in death by his uncle, Jerry Krenz; and by Bob Anderson.

DUSTAN JAMES TOWNE Des Moines Connie Kennedy, 80, passed away on October 22, 2013 at her home in Urbandale. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Chapel with burial at Resthaven Cemetery.

Connie was born September 21, 1933 in Wilmington, IL to Ernie and Kay (Stroud) Pichon. She enjoyed playing bridge, collecting birds, doing crafts, was very artistic and a great cook. main love was spending time with her family and friends. Connie is survived by her three children, Kay (Errol) Ellefson of North Liberty, IA, Clayton (Karen) Kennedy of Des Moines and Dana (Travis) Baber of Urbandale; seven grandchildren; five great- grandchildren; sister, Erna Kay (Larry) Wieland of Urbandale and brother, Bob (Cheryl) Pichon of Runnells. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m., Saturday, at Brooks Funeral Care, 7975 University Blvd in Clive. Timothy Edward Mulvin, the son of Edward and Evelyn Mulvin, was born August 31, 1957 in Des Moines.

He was a graduate of Hoover High School and attended Hamilton College. Tim worked as a computer engineer for Unisys. Tim was preceded in death by his mother and his wife, Connie. Tim is survived by his father, Edward and daughter, Elizabeth. TIMOTHY E.

MULVIN Des Moines David Phillip James, age 76, died October 22, 2013 at Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, IA. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, October 25 at Our Immaculate Heart Church, 510 East First Street, Ankeny, IA. The interment will be held at Resthaven Cemetery, 801 19th Street in West Des Moines following a reception at the church. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 24 at Our Immaculate Heart Church from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

with a prayer service and at 7. He was born August 31, 1937 on the James family farm south of Stuart, IA, the son of Edward and Margaret (Freestone) James. He married Shirley (Markey) James at St. Church in Des Moines on September 5, 1959. She died on February 2, 2005.

He married Joyce (Hansen) Mall on November 25, 2006 at Our Immaculate Heart Church in Ankeny. David graduated from Dowling High School in 1955 and Drake University in 1959. He joined the Iowa Air National Guard in 1955 and retired as a Lt. Colonel and Commander of the 132nd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron in 1990. He often said he would have done his service to the 132nd for free.

After graduating from college he joined his real estate company, Ed James Real Estate, and soon moved to Standard Oil Company where he was a real estate manager for several years. In the 1970s he became one of the original franchisees for General Stores. David built three stores in Iowa, in Lamoni, Alta, and Eldridge. He was one of the original innovators for the sale of donuts, pizza, and chicken for David volunteered for St. Vincent de Paul Society and Operation Santa Claus for many years and was an active member of the Silver Squadron.

He and Joyce wintered at their home in Sun City West, AZ, for the past several years. David and Joyce took many wonderful trips together. He loved travel, golf, the Cubs, Da Bears, and FOX News. He was devoted to his family and especially enjoyed his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Joyce, and his brother, Lawrence E.

James of Des Moines and his wife Barbara (Glenn). He is also survived by his children, grandchildren and stepchildren: daughter, Trelawney (T.J.) Kitchen and her husband, John of Danville, CA; son, Matthew of Ankeny; daughter, Regina James and her husband, Craig Rosen of San Mateo, CA; son, David of Albuquerque, NM; daughter Rebecca Meyer and her husband, Vernon of Ankeny; stepdaughter Cynthia Carlson and her husband, Mike of Minneapolis, MN; stepson, Steven Mall and his wife, Jill of Clive, IA; stepdaughter, Angela Moritz and her husband Jim of West Des Moines; granddaughters, Alexandra, Samantha, Gabrielle, Kate, Jorden, Allie, Paige and Jenna; and grandsons, John and Daniel. He is preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Shirley; his parents Edward and Margaret; and his grandson David Meyer.
